Tibet Society lobbies the government and other bodies concerning Tibet. Aside from the Society's work with the All-Party Parliamentary Group for Tibet, we also directly lobby the Foreign Office and brief officials and ministers.

Tibet Society also engages its membership and supporter base to lobby their MPs and key decision makers on important issues facing the Tibetan people and pressing human rights cases. In 2009 Tibet Society was centrally involved as part of a coalition of UK Tibet Support Groups taking the lead in organising the first ever mass lobby of Parliament for Tibet on the 50th anniversary of the Tibetan National Uprising, which saw over 300 lobbyists discussing the issues directly with their MPs.

Tibet Society is committed to supporting Tibetans in the UK to make their voice heard, and to this end we offer guidance and support for Tibetans to lobby the government too. At a critical time during March 2008 Tibet Society accompanied a delegation of young Tibetan students to Westminster to lobby their MP and bring the crisis into the heart of Parliament. The group was present in Westminster as Gordon Brown agreed to meet with His Holiness the Dalai Lama in May that year.

We will continue to lobby and campaign tirelessly on behalf of the Tibetan people, both in the UK with MPs, officials and ministers and indeed in China too, as we have done concerning the cases of Lobsang Gyaltsen and Loyak and Leaving Fear Behind director Dhondup Wangchen. We can only do so however with the funds donated by people who care about the Tibetan cause. Please donate HERE today and give what you can to help us to keep Tibet alive.
